Well, I sure wouldn't want some of the crazy 9th Circuit decisions be applied to the 11th (where I live). It has a lot of weight, but if another circuit thinks its nutters, it can ignore.

Not allow the US Constitution to be interpreted in vastly different ways given your location.

Glad to hear India's taking steps towards equal treatment of people by sexual orientation. China recently delisted homosexuality as a "psychiatric disorder", so between them the two countries have made the lives of a large number of people incrementally better.
