My only point, really, was the impact on unemployment. It won't just be the casino workers, but also support businesses that exist primarily, or in large part, due to the casinos. That's all I'm saying and all I meant. No need for you to get so foaming at the mouth.

Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.

If you want to gamble - fine, you are free to spend your holidays and your money at Las Vegas style special places. Have fun there. Return back to your home and job with empty pockets without contracting that gambling disease.
What is the PROBLEM with that approach?Last edited by Serb; July 1, 2009, 21:22.

Как мой русский?But the previous line is incorrect.

"Не любите водочку?" (don't (you) like vodka?). There is only one word for "vodka" in English, no word for "vodochka". English is such a backward language
"Не полюбите водочка?" - is something like "don't will fall in love with vodka?" or something like that. Understandable, but still not correct. We don't speak that way.

actually it could work. I'm almost inclined to side with Serb. But the goverment should have helped them set up shop in the new locations. I'm all for specialized places to gambling.
In fact, I'm against legalizing more gambling in the U.S. My city is slowly (lately very quickly) dying out. Most people do consider it immoral, so why not put it in some out of the way place so kids don't get access?

people gamble for all sorts of reasons (I'm in the profession after all). Not necessarily because they are bad a math or addicts.
I'm awesome at math, but I have gambled. This may come as a surprised, but some people do enjoy gambling. Some others do it because they think it's cool, or makes them cool (kind of like smoking). Let's face it, blowing money on stupid crap is cool. Why else would women go after guys who blow all their money on expensive sports cars? Because acting like you are a high roller is cool. Everyone wants to live the high life.

Gabbling can be a fun form of entertainment as long as a person sets boundaries, doesn't become addicted, and doesn't try to chase after the money the lost. When I go to Vegas I come with a set amount of money I don't mind spending and when it is gone then that's it. Besides there is so much more to do in Vegas then just gamble; there is the food, the shows, the night life, and a million other things.
As for Russia changing the rules.... It is their right but it sounds like it was more to punish successful Georgian operators then anything else. I seriously doubt their new gambling locations will turn into successful resorts in less then a decade because of all the work that will be needed (building casinos, building airports, building other infrastructure and tourist attractions, advertising so potential vacationers know about the place, etc...).Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.
