It's more likely that depressed real estate values and increased personal incomes will allow the hipsters to return to Manhattan from their exile in Brooklyn. Your investment banker salary will be high enough to get you into a neighborhood they can't touch, but you may end up in an island of normalcy in a sea of hipster scum.

Very nice; that's where I'd live if I could afford it. Not the best for nightlife, but I doubt that matters to a married man. You're already dead...

Of course, Tribeca really will be an island in a sea of hipster scum if the hipsters start moving into the West Village in force. They're already taking over Chinatown and the LES.

No. While Tribeca is kind of quiet, it's close to all the good downtown nightlife areas. The UES is equally quiet and farther from anything interesting.

That's what I thought. I think I'm limited to those choices (again, depending on relevant commuting parameters) by preferences of better half.

I think banker types are required to live in either Tribeca or the UES.
