I note that 23andMe is charging only $400 for a test. Apparently, they test for health and ancestry traits.

Anybody taken a DNA test?
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891Tags: None

Was it part of a class, or did they test all students?I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. I think they started charging $1,000 a couple of years ago. So these tests are dropping in price rather rapidly.
There was a distant cousin researching our family tree who wanted a male of my immediate family to take a DNA test for their use. I don't think I'll do that one, but I don't have any problem reporting these kinds of results to my immediate family. Most veterans have their DNA stored in one or more places for identification purposes. So the tests wouldn't compromise their covertness. People who work n defense work have given their fingerprints often. So I can't be KH's accomplice. Darn!No matter where you go, there you are. - Buckaroo Banzai
