Yes, I am in the Midwest... thus, it must be true! I also am a chemical engineer and I don't make this stuff up.
The dog is healing from a torn ACL so she has to be taken out to use the bathroom on a leash. So, I took her out before going to bed and as she was going I looked up. I live outside Cincinnati and there aren't a whole lot of lights so I can see a lot of stars.
Anway, as I look up I see what I think is a planet because it is shinning brighter and steadier than the stars and I think, what planet is that? As I am think about that it suddenly dims, quite quickly (4 or 5 seconds). It then begins moving across the sky. Now that I am looking at it I see it moving and I think it's a satellite, I've seen them before. However, this one is speeding up and getting dimmer. I lost it when the horizon lights swallowed it.
It came out of the South East and Travel to the North West.
Did NASA launch something in my direction that might breach that atmosphere about here? Also, when is the space shuttle launch been postponed to? We'll be in FL next month and am hoping I can go watch it.
