A massive colony ship is launched towards the nearest Earth-class planet, a habitable orb without any signs of techonologically advanced life which will be discovered in the next 10-20 years.
The cryogenicly frozen colonists are awoken upon arrival but beginning warring with each other, splitting into distinct idelogical factions. We must dissent!"My nation is the world, and my religion is to do good." --Thomas Paine

The world will sink further and further into stagnation as an ever increasing number of mentally questionable citizens exercise their "right" to vote for whomever offers them the most "stuff". This problem will be exacerbated by the genetic drift of the human population towards a lower IQ (caused by the lack of selective pressure) and the higher birth rate amongst the portion of the population with lower IQ's.
Eventually, our alien overlords will tire of the unending stupidity and they will eradicate humanity in favor of a superior species, the panda. We need seperate human-only games for MP/PBEM that dont include the over-simplifications required to have a good AI

Gene-packing will be real, but expensive, so that only the wealthy will be able to tailor their offspring for maximum genetic advantage. At this point, the millennia-old lie -- that the rich are innately superior, both physically and mentally, to everyone else -- will no longer be a lie. Democracy will be come to be seen as a quaint idea who's day is over, remembered only in newly-emergent, carnivalesque traditions, like electing a particularly stupid and ugly person King of the Fourth of July.

As the social demands of the American public increase, along with the demand for lower taxes increasing, the American government will find itself increasingly taking out loans to cover the difference. Eventually, spending on interest will force precipitous cuts in government spending, and they will be cuts that people will find abhorrent.
College educations will become increasingly commoditized, and online education will get big, big big, resulting in lower academic standards and a deadening of the American intellect. The select few private institutions will linger on, of course.
As the population of the U.S. grows, energy demands will increase and increase. I forsee rolling blackouts."mono has crazy flow and can rhyme words that shouldn't, like Eminem"
