Hey, I'm a pretty perceptive dude.

because she allegedly changed the subject when told about the cop? Thats denial, or failure to connect the dots, or...who in the hell was reporting all this? The mother wants to protect her daughter but she's telling reporters about this incident? Sounds contrived, but if true it dont make her a sociopath. How many little kids exhibit empathy? Enough dont to make identifying sociopaths that young problematic.

ya the cop died in a traffic accident en route to her false 911 call. She didn't directly cause it, and really has no reason to feel guilty. Though she should feel guilty about making false 911 calls and kicking her father in the groin. Not to mention trashing the house over a razor. What 14 year old girl needs a razor anyways? She's too young to be having sex. And what guy wants to **** that psycho *****? I guess it's safe long as you don't sleep with her afterwords (Bobbitt comes to mind)

And Ming is right, it's a short news story. There really isn't alot of info on this girl. Many kids are bratty. I wasn't very empathetic when I was that age (though not nearly as bad as her). Only later in life did I get past the bratty stage. Maybe it was the military that shaped me up, though military training doesn't seem like it would help with empathy issues. But I think it was seeing the world and seeing how bad people have it (although I mostly saw rich parts of the world- europe and middle east).

The accident itself is pretty interesting. A drunk driver pulled out in front of the cop. He failed the field sobriety test, but when he was blood tested he was under .08. He only had a few beers. While this is a tragic accident, I don't want to see this guy go to jail. I know there is such a crusade against anyone with a trace amount of drugs or alcohol in their blood now days (we sent a girl to prison for killing 8 people with her car while under the influence of marijuana), but the law should be respected. Why make the limit .08 if that number means nothing? People are still calling for this guy's head. But I'm not.

Perform a transorbital lobotomy on her.

You can't. That identification only comes into play at age 18. Hence the reason for the conduct disorder post I made.

I don't think we know enough to know whether she's a sociopath. She's clearly got issues, though. Apparently, she's already seeing a therapist. Perhaps that's not enough. I do know I'd be very upset if I was her parent. I'd like to believe that I would never raise a child like that, and if I *did*, I'd be horrified.

I don't really think the death of the cop is relevant here. It really wasn't her fault the cops is dead (if anyone, it's the driver of the other vehicle, or maybe even the cop himself), despite her assinine behavior.

The trick isn't to break some eggs to make an omelette, it's convincing the eggs to break themselves in order to aspire to omelettehood.
