I'm pissed because the people who could have fixed Poly refused to do so. If the Wanking Panda Club succeeds, it's proof that their inaction caused Poly's decline. If they fail, it's proof that Off Topic didn't cause Poly's decline. Either way, instead of trying to fix Poly, they ran away.
The fact that On Topic is dead has nothing to do with Off Topic, except their irrational hatred of Asher. Look, Asher can be a royal pain in the ass, but he's also damned entertaining, even when you're the target of his ire. The only think that Asher ever said to me that hurt was calling me a despicable person, but not being Dale, I didn't go psycho over it.Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

I personally don't feel any loyalty to Poly (or any website for that matter). There's posters here I like, some I have no opinion on, others I don't care for... and each is an individual evaluation. (Many of the former on-topic posters I identified closely with seem to have lost something in that regard? Why the vitriol towards posters just because where they chose to post?) The site itself is rather irrelevant, especially given the change in ownership and a lack of familiarity with the new owners.
I'll probably post here at Poly like I always have (that being off-and-on). Whether I post at WFC or not really doesn't impact that, though who posts what where may. Such as Lancer posting pics at WFC, which means I'll go there to see the pics rather than here.

I've called Drake that before, but I doubt he even noticed. I have to regularly endure the torment of Asher describing me as 'English'.Originally posted by chequita guevara View PostThe only think that Asher ever said to me that hurt was calling me a despicable person, but not being Dale, I didn't go psycho over it.

I'm with you on that. Maybe it might be for the best to avoid this place for a while until I don't have to shift through countless threads concerning the feud. It's getting tedious, and I really wonder why everyone is investing so much time in it.Originally posted by Aeson View PostI personally don't feel any loyalty to Poly (or any website for that matter). Fair enough if that's how you see it, though I do find something disturbing about Dale's inability to fully take back his outburst, and that's my problem with his site. Many of us are capable of blowing a fuse now and again - but we should be able to take back every word of it. I don't go as far as those that say that anyone posting there is 'supporting' the death threat, though.Originally posted by Aeson View PostI personally don't feel any loyalty to Poly (or any website for that matter). I have to say, even though I risk being described as fellating you for saying it - you are one of the reasons why I came to like this site in the first place. For me the old Civ 3 strat forum was a golden age of civ discussion, and the Lego War in the demo game was a memorable thing to be involved in. Some OT posters who have little connection with the Civ side of this place will not understand such memories but I still hope that poly can be a civ site again.
The CS Slingshot in early Civ 4 was a memorable moment too. I lost count of the number of times I subsequently tried to explain to people that running two scientists in a library was an integral part of it ....

I went over and looked around mainly to see what the crap was going on and a curious thing happened. I got kind of pissed off at those who I saw posting over there. In my mind i know it is just a damn website but it did piss me off a little. Poly has been the one conssistent place online that I have always stopped by at through times when I had interent 24/7 to when I could only check it once every two weeks or once a month. It matters, I don't know exactly how it matters but it does matter. But I've always been a sentimental bastard like that.Which side are we on? We're on the side of the demons, Chief. We are evil men in the gardens of paradise, sent by the forces of death to spread devastation and destruction wherever we go. I'm surprised you didn't know that. --Saul Tigh

with all the trials and tribulations i've faced as more or less a direct result of apolyton, i'm still loyal to the community. i've put nearly ten good years into this site. i've been on topic and off topic, and vacillate between the two. i'm still here, and i would be loathed to hang my hat at some other site.Originally posted by Aeson View PostI personally don't feel any loyalty to Poly (or any website for that matter).
