Play an MP game at least once a week. Now I'll have a little more time for it.

What I like is the fact that this entire thread was created as a passive-aggressive way to prove Asher wrong. Proof positive that, both directly and indirectly, Asher is easily the biggest contributor to posting traffic in the Poly OTF.

You think? TBS was nearly dead a few times in history already, but the formula is so strong there will always pop up some new innovative ones. That TBS games don't cater to the masses is irrelevant in that respect, as long as creative developers keep releasing qualitative games it's not dead in my view.

I only play the monthly Civ 4 tri-league tournament now. That's about 10 hours a month, but I usually finish the game in about 3 sessions.

Ya gotta love a thread where Asher is proved wrong.
But it does reinforce that this is still a CIV site where people that play CIV meet to chat, along with a few ego driven loud mouths. The OT is the main focus inbetween releases.

I agree with the asessment, that Civ is still a site where primarily players meet to talk about the game and that in between releases the OT becomes the focus. I can confirm that with my own experience. I have been on the on-topic forum for a long time, before i even found out about the off-topic. The most likely scenario for that to happen (i dont remember anymore) was the on-topic not providing enough material to read for a coffee and cig to go along with it. Aimless clicking ensued and then i met Asher and WigLaf...

You state that as if its a rare event.

Did no one come to poly because of SMAC? I never really got into Civ for some reason. I see it there in the bargain bin every now and then I think I might try it again but some other game always catches my eye.

A few days ago, I popped into one of the computer game stores I've been frequenting since forever. They've now entirely eliminated their PC games and sell nothing but console games.
