  • Who is the Greatest President of the United States?

    And why?

I figure Mount Rushmore isn't just there for a laugh, so I will use the Presidents chosen for it as the basis of the poll - if you don't agree, choose 'other' and say why...

Obviously Coolidge and Borglum chose these before FDR, so the 'R' one is FDR cos I can't change the poll part and my hand slipped...

Seriously, what the hell kind of sense does that make?

It doesn't. I am actually capable of making the odd mistake - I know it is difficult to believe...

I would change it, but I can't and must forevermore live with my shame.

          Andrew Jackson.

Killed a man in a knife fight and beat the charges in court.
          John Brown did nothing wrong.

Abraham Lincoln - saved the country that so many of us Americans love today and revived our country's striving toward ideal of human equality.

Wasn't Lincoln just a war president?

First he actually failed to prevent the war, and secondly even GWB could not have failed to win against the South with the overwhelming resources available to the North.

Are you joking? He purposely planned and initiated a conflict that killed 1 million Americans just so he could give himself more executive power and support the Military Industrial complex. He was America's George W. Bush of the 19th century.

Jefferson, because he extended the territory of the US by a massive amount. And it's great land too.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

I feel lazy and decided to go with those listed.
