  • Imo the OT needs to be unified to consolidate its remaining strength. We have seen the effects of spliting the forum to bits. Further splits would equal further decay.

    • I agree that a split would be sort of a pity. But as things are, people will leave (and have left) anyways. Like if you have a party, and one bunch is all rockers and the other consists out of opera-goers. It would be nice, if they´d get along, but if that doesnt happen, then one crowd will be sitting in the kitchen and the other in the living room - and that´s the best alternative in that case. It is preferable to having the party degenerate to a shout-fest or even end up in a fist-fight.

      • you split into threads which interest you... no need for further separation

            • I'd like to see the end of the sports and technology sub forums. There are plenty of "real" sites dealing with those topics and I think that polytubbies that post such threads in OT are here for the "community" not for the subject per ce. Creating the sub forums may have been intended to seperate those who desire serious discussion on sports and technology from the many trolls but I think the effect is to lessen the OT community as a whole.

              • ^ Either that (merge them back into OT with the rest of the freewheeling stuff), or they should be modded more strictly, as on the same level as the on-topic forums.

You can make Off-Topic an "at your own risk" place, but people who go to Other Games, Tech, and so forth often have real questions that they'd like answered. If they have to make their way through "colorful posts" to get their answers it may put them off the site, same as with the on-topic game related forums.

Somewhere in between. Got to hit that critical mass where things take off again but idiocy is banned. Then people might ***** about their serious threads dropping amid the spam but then at least they'll be exposed to the competition...lots of people might post! Lots of people. That will take time.

If the reactor hasn't had so many rods yanked out and died off that critical mass can't be achieved. That's my concern, that the new guys do everything right and its too late to save the reactor. I really hope not, but win or lose it all depends on the new admins to undo the disasterous decisions of the past and see if things heat up.

                    Win this thing CyberShy!

Blake did some good work on CIV, and - OMG! - Civ fans appreciate it.

I don't do anything fellating-worthy on this site, nor do I get fellated or expect to get fellated. If anything, I come to expect getting kicked and punched on this site, not fellated.

It's just ridiculous the kind of treatment he got in the OTF as people "looked the other way" with the clearly bat**** crazy things he was saying because he was credited on a Civ4 expansion pack for tweaking AI routines written by Soren (who had left at this point to go to EA). There's nothing ego-related about it. If I wanted you guys to stroke my ego like you did Blake and Dale, I could spend my free time modding the Civ games as well -- it's not that hard at all, just time consuming. So you can be thankful Blake and Dale did put in the time for what they did and that Firaxis was smart enough to capitalize on their fanbase for cheap labour, but that's not my style. It's a bit too obvious and weak.

Honestly, a lot of you are acting like fanboys and you hold up people who had bit parts as part of the game expansion pack to some kind of pantheon of respect and untouchable status. Ridiculous.

Whenever I got into it with Blake about the Buddhist **** in the OTF, at least one of you would come in crying about the work Blake did on Civ and how I need to be more respectful, etc.

This is the OFF-TOPIC FORUM. It is not for ON-TOPIC discussion or context.

I'm willing to bet the majority of people who post in the OTF haven't played Civ in a year or more.
I've played a grand total of three Civ games in my life.
