My only encounters with DanQ were in the old Community Forum when he assisted me a couple times with tech issues. He was always more a gentleman than I was.

I'm sure I'm not the only one that was strangely disturbed by DanQ's excessive attempts are politeness. It's a pretty farcical example of a Canadian stereotype.

This is the main problem here -- there's a lot of caustic personalities here, like in life. Pretending they don't exist doesn't help anyone, nor does trying to force them to be passive aggressive (but socially acceptable) ******. A lot of us have been here far too many years to tolerate this "be nice when talking to strangers" type of routine some people insist on. Such conversations are seldom truly honest, and most of the time the overhead of socially correct protocol is simultaneously spammy and grating.
Take you, for instance. The only thing people here seem to remember of you is how you incessantly whine in threads about how people need to be nicer and "teach/learn" something. The ***** of this all is I don't recall you teaching or learning from anything, but the same cannot be said about KH?
Well, KH did manage to make me more of a critic to my own view in that most recent example - to ask questions rather than to post a bold claim. That is because, i acknowledge his expertise (on economics). Remember, when we discussed stochastics with rah hitting a tech from huts 8-times in a row? I was proven utterly wrong in that thread. It taught me a lot. There is a hell of things, i heard about here for the first time. Personally for me, this even extends to ways of expressing oneself in english (though, again: there are more bad examples than good ones here, probably). Remember the ´intellectual review´ thread - that was my favorite - Blake did a world of teaching there (IMHO). Just a few examples...
EDIT: But yeah, maybe ´teaching/learning´ was a bit narrow. Just to express one´s opinion is fine, too. Common courtesy and a minimum of respect for others is a must though IMHO, and it should really go without saying among adults - this isnt Kindergarten after all. My brother and i stoped calling each other names, after we had gotten drunk together for the first time... Unfortunately i dont have the opportunity to get drunk with each of you...

Blake was an *******, I don't care what these Civ-nuts think. The thing to remember about this site is if you do anything Civ-related, you're largely untouchable. People like Dale and Blake are virtually worshipped by some people here, it blinds everyone to their obvious faults.

I have no idea who Blake is. Didn't know who Dale was either until he ****ed with the wrong man.
