If he pays that little for rent, I hope he shares a bed with 3 or 4 other men.

A pretty nice place. Large bedroom, hardwood floors, a mile from campus, a yard, etc. The only downside is that I'm sharing one shower with six other people (but five are girls, so it's reasonably clean). A friend of mine found the place, and she hooked me up.

Last year, I rented a place that cost >50% more. Where I killed on average ~2-3 roaches a daily.

I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

OK, I guess I can see how being only based on Prof or only based on Student evaluations is bad.

An equal mix of Prof and student evaluations is best?

The problem is that most profs just don't care.

I would get input from students, profs and head TAs (where applicable)

The problem is that they need TAs. Profs don't want to do the work themselves. Fortunately all my classes are taught by professors, but we do have TAs for discussion groups and labs. There is one who is phenomenally rude and nasty. She berates and threatens students who come in late or don't answer her questions. She gets tons of complaints and has been reprimanded, but she still works, because they need TAs.

I currently pay $2500 excluding utilitaries, janissaries and central heating in my main apartment. For the record, other things that are ironic are good advice that you just didn't take, ten thousand spoons when all you need is a knife, meeting the man of your dreams and then meeting his beautiful wife, and dying in a plane crash when you are, wait for it, afraid to fly.
