The only part of our heritage we are ashamed of is our Welsh ancestry.
I'm consitently stupid- Japher I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned
If I go through Georgia I of course have to visit Savanah and the Queen of Butter herslef Palua Deen! Or at least her resuraunt. going up there I just want to get there, but coming home I would like to see some sights.
You'll be taking I-10 mostly likely, unless you have the time and money for a more scenic trip. I-10 doesn't go through Georgia. IIRC, you live near Austin, right? Best bet is to take US290 to I-10 then head East 'till you get to I-12, which you'll take around the north side of Lake Pontchartrain, then get back on I-10 till you hit I-75 in Florida. You will take that South until you hist FL429, which is one of the more beautiful drives in Florida (goes through the Ocala Uplift, Florida horse and cattle country).
Going to Savannah is a five hour detour, not including the time you spend there. The six blocks of downtown are gorgeous, but the rest of the city is your typical Southern city.
BTW, Mobius. Just because the competition is at a certain hotel doesn't mean Tia needs to stay there. She can probably find cheaper elsewhere.
Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...
I would detour to St Augustine. Add a couple of hours to her trip, plus sightseeing.

Damn Welsh trying to sneak into our ancestry.

Good plan
St. Augie's is the oldest European settlement in the U.S., though, none of the buildings date back much past the 1760s. Thebus's right. It would only be an hour out of your way for driving.

See, finally after a bit of friendly cajoling Che comes up with the goods...
You're right about the hotel - but then there's countless motels between Orlando and Kissimmee. One of those road trip motel offers books and you're good to go!
Savannah is well worth the visit, but a bit out of the way for you - Mobile has a similar Antebellum feel and is right on your route.

The twins are right, this is a lovely place to spend a day.
Mind thought, the fountain of youth water tastes like rotten eggs - and watch out for the mental pet peacocks as they try and get friendly...
BTW there's a decent outlet centre nearby for a bit of retail therapy.

All well water in North Florida and South Georgia tastes like rotten eggs (unless heavily filtered). Lots of sulfur, except around Videlia, GA, which is why they have sweet onions.

My operating assumption was that she was capable of reading a map and figuring out how to get to Orlando on her own.

Thanks Sloww! I've been to St. Augistene when we went to Disney land world small world whatever there in Florida with my church choir but that was years ago. I do remember how beautiful it was.
ok here are practice pies I made last night, you will of course recognise the chocolate one but mine is better then Sissy's! Even Tommy Lee would eat this one, the other one is the Fluffnutter pie. And if I made them to big will someone have pitty on me and reduce them. Thank you.

Me too. That's why I gave her suggestions of where to visit rather than which ****ing road to take all the way from Austin. Still, I suppose that's better than saying Orlando is 'confusing'...
che, you forgot Moby is confused all the time. That's why he thought his experience was 'normal'.
