avalon hill's NAVAL WAR! is a good beer and pretzels game, if you can find it. a friend and i are working on a 2.3 version, as soon as i finish with the photoshopping so we can start playtesting a few of the rules changes we've in mind.

a friend of mine brought over a game that i unfortunately can't remember the title to. it was in the horror genre, and started as a co-op game, until one player was revealed to be the villain due to the game mechanics. there were quite a few different scenarios available in relation to who triggered the shift in gameplay and what card was drawn. it was brilliantly done.
I wasn't born with enough middle fingers.

              Risk - a classic
              Clue - a must-have
Rail Baron - must have 4 players; 5 or 6 is better (BTW, decent online version is free)
              Amoeba Wars - very fun
MasterMind - logic wars for 2 -- add "blank" as a 5th color and piss off your SO!!
CandyLand - every rugged, manly man must have it!
Scrabble - because I kick ass

[edit: Add another vote for Naval War. Excellent game!]

MasterMind? Seriously? That game is pretty easy to solve completely.

Maybe in your country, but over here the name is different.

And chalk up another vote for naval wars.

                  And don't forget nuclear war.

I doubt it. Colditz was a famous prisoner camp for allied officers. There were hilarious and legendary escape stories, including self built airplanes - it was kind of a sport. IIRC, Churchill's nephew was imprisoned there.

There's no Auschwitz game in the BGG database.

However, there's this game on BGG: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/11102

Twister is a heterosexual construct. It's a form of foreplay. Gays just strip and ****.

You have much to learn. We should meet up in a nondescript airport restroom, Republican-style, sometime soon. I'd let you be my page.

Ticket to Ride isn't all it's cracked up to be; it certainly didn't have the same addictive pull that Settlers had on me, plus it's even more chance based.

Have a look at some of Reiner Knizia's games - he's a master of the auction game mechanic, which works very nicely in Ra. Knizia's made some great two player games as well, like Battleline and Lost Cities.

Balderdash is a great party game.
There's also "Trump: The Game" which I enjoyed when I was younger.
