Che, they are KIDNAPPING people. You have two choices. Let them do so, or kick their ****ing asses until they figure out that they aren't allowed to violate the law just because they feel like it. There is no middle ground here.

      psssstt..Donegeal..wrong login dude!

But seriously, Che' is right on man, a softer approach would do wonders to stop 3 million frenchmen from storming the streets..

I can only say they must have been reenacting the invasion of France by their big buddy liberators Uncle Sam and the Allied Clan

che, you let your true colours show.

You think it's bad when someone "exploits" workers by giving them market wages, but it's okay to kidnap somebody as long as they're non-execs?

Give me a break. Lose the one-trick pony shtick, lose the communism manifesto bull****, and start using your head.

You seem to think I have a univeralist point of view, one set of rules for everyone. I don't. Capitalists are the enemy of working people, and, unlike workers, are dispensable. As the workers realize more and more their power, we grow closer and closer to the day of reckoning.

Sad to say it, che, but chronically unemployed web designers are dispensable...not highly paid executives.

              Welcome to reality.

IMO, shoving somebody's employment status in their face is both beside the point and a ****ty thing to do. Especially in this environment.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

Not in this case -- che made a crude comment in my "I got laid off" thread himself. That and he thinks capitalists are "dispensable", which is pretty tasteless as well.

As a bonus, it is not beside the point. He thinks it is the execs that are dispensable, but it is him who has been dispensed with. That's basically an open invitation for a comment.

Che, you are a tool that is no better, or worse, than the capatilist tools in this world.

Your problem is that you don't acknowledge it.
You just wasted six ... no, seven ... seconds of your life reading this sentence.

Boo hoo, apparently one of their complaints was that they were - gasp - forced to work 40 hours instead of the original 35. The French people really have no backbone, and are prone to protests. If I was there I'd send in the deathsquad and teach those bastards a lesson, maybe then they won't protest.

And obviously the government is opting for the first choice. I'm not saying it's morally right, but it's probably politically expedient.

I think you're confused. Their governments don't have backbone. The protesters have plenty. That's why the new employment contract reform failed a few years back.
