Totally unacceptable for a "commander", especially.

I'll admit I have no experience making bets on Poly. Avatars could be good. Winner gets to pick the avatar for the loser for.. three months following the public announcement of the choice for NATO Secretary General.

Or if you want the stakes to be for something else, state your terms good Sir, I will be more than happy to oblige.

But you'd better hurry. This could all turn moot within a matter of days.

Oh, so he "dropped out of the race". Nice euphemism for realising there was no way he'd be appointed.

Whenever that tiresome mailman card is played, I know I've nailed you good.

I'm perfectly aware he's leading the polls etc. But he's got to be facing some problems unbeknownst to us, since he's not yet officially confirmed despite numerous sources saying he's got it made. While I'm not dismissing the dude as such, I do think his chances vis-a-vis everyone else's are lower than 50%, so we've got a bet going for sure.

Thinking about your punishment already - with EP elections coming up, Margrete Auken might need your avatar space for her campaign... but that's just one idea out of several.

                Monk, deal!

I would've rather made the bet with Asher though. But being a stealthy Canadian, he had to er, skillfully ignore my invitation.

I'm still open for further bets though, if anyone's interested.

You weren't supposed to see that in an unDanSed state.

You did ignore my suggestion of a bet. What's more, you still do. Chicken..

So what exactly is Asher's problem with the Naval Uniform(is he a former army "meathead" with unresolved navy issues? Too many years in Esquimalt instead of the field). Or maybe he's a former RCR and just misses his olive drab combats too damn much.

Either way though, I do agree with certain of the above posters that it does look unprofessional for any flag officer to be dressed in "working rig", when he is giving a press conference. On the other hand, in defense of the Admiral, it is quite tedious to get dressed up for the public all the damn time, and to be perfectly honest, generally whether you are wearing combats, coveralls etc. they generally are a lot more comfortable then being stuck in your No.1's
Please put Asher on your ignore list.

                      Question for Winston...

As from what I've read above, your a mailman. With that in mind, what sort of uniform if any do you get issued, and secondly, have you ever served in any branch of the armed forces?

In Response to Asher: Yes he is correct to say that Alberta does furnish a lot of recruits for the Canadian Army. It has always been historically true, that the Canadian Prairies have furnished some of the best and toughest recruits for the Cdn. Army. After all, look at both the PPCLI and the LSH...both of which were formed by Westerners and both which have outstanding records.

Though as for sodomites in the Navy, there are few and far between....though now the Air Force....its sodomite city there.
Please put Asher on your ignore list.

If you're going to forego the undershirt, at least wear a gaudy medallion.

                          And, bring back mustaches.

And indeed there will be time To wonder, "Do I dare?" and, "Do I dare?". t s eliot

I have a uniform, yes. I basically get all the articles of clothing needed for the job, with the exception of the unmentionables. Shirts, various sweaters, pants, caps, scarfs, socks, shoes and jackets/coats for different types of weather.

I served with the Danish Royal Guards, an infantry regiment, in 1985/86.

Why do you ask, and who are you?

Well being that you commented on the Admiral's Kit, I was wondering if you actually had any experience in the military or just a a career civilian who thinks that we should all be in our No.1's all the time. Though since you served in the Royal Danish Guards(as an infanteer no less), you fully understand the whole situation of degrees of operational dress. Basically, what I'm saying is that by all means, your opinion weighs a lot higher then that of an armchair quarter back civilian. That being said, I can understand why you criticized his dress and deportment, but on the same level, there is some degree of informality in the military in the post Cold War Era(at a time when at any point when you did an interview with the media it was always done in No.1's, wherein in this day and age you may go about being interviewed in working dress/combats without enduring the wrath of public affairs.

You may have a point. But he still has to endure my wrath for showing up at any type of function dressed like that.
