  • What kind of an outfit is this

    !?

This picture of an admiral James Stavridis accompanied a news article here about his possible designation as the next Allied Commander of NATO (Ritzau by way of Reuters, citing government sorces in Washington). He is the current Commander of the U.S. Southern Command.

Either way, you're either in uniform or you dress casually. You can't have it both ways. And unless you've just returned from heavy battle or prolonged exercises, a nice shave could work wonders for your overall appearance.

Oh, no worries there. The next Secretary General will be our current PM. You will be crying yourself to sleep for years to come.

Now answer the OP question, please.

My guess is that he isn't trying to have an outfit, because he doesn't give a ****.

Then he should drop the shoulder badges. He looks like that seedy shopkeeper from The Simpsons in that picture.

          Dream on.

We might get Stefu back as a nice aside to this. When our PM gets the job some time within the next 2 weeks and consequently steps down from leading the government, our new PM will the third in a row named Rasmussen.

It is Service Khakis worn by Chiefs and Officers with the black relax jacket over it. The jacket is authorized to be worn with zipper 1/3 of the way down because 1.) you wear the same jacket with the dress blues that has a tie and 2.) it is just more comfortable that way.

It is a common joke amoungst us junior officers that once you make O-6 apparently you are no longer required to wear a white undershirt. It is not in the regs but I have better things to do with my time than point that out to Admirals.

So his demerit is because he wore the jacket with zipper all the way down?
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

The whole strictly regimented dress code thing is massively gay...
The uniforms are available online so you can join in on the fun!

Yep, though it looks like the mic wire is the culprit.

Especially if we're talking him vs. the rest of the bunch, I think the odds are against you. The combined chances of MacKay and Sikorski and a dark horse or three would certainly exceed his (Was Søren Gade ruled out altogether? How absurd would that be?)

Sure, Rasmussen has been a faithful ally of the US, and none of his countrymen ever had the office. But that's true for the other dudes as well, and they don't have the Turks complaining about them. Now, I'm not an expert on how these things work, but I'm fairly sure it's more about how many important countries are against you than about how many are actively supporting you.

So do you want to make a bet then?

The Turks are just being noisy. They're Turks!

I think Søren Gade (despite his being from my hometown ) would be very absurd. He just said he wouldn't consider becoming deputy chair of the party, being a single parent with two young daughters.

                            No, no. Rasmussen = shoe-in.

I'd happily take a bet where I win if anybody but Fogh Rasmussen takes the prize. Odds are still in my favor. Do you have avatars turned on... you will if and when you lose anyway...
