I don't know about where they live, but where I live we have a place called pic a part. Basically a junkyard where you can find parts. In all the time and effort it took to get taht plywood the right size for that door, not to mention buying hinges, he could have driven down to the junk yard and got a new door for the vehicle. It might not have been the right color, but me thinks it would look much better than that.
