I was talking with a guy friend and he said he noticed certain times of the month when he was hornier than usual.

Well women are attracted to a man for more than just sex (most of them). You can't say that men are attracted to women for more than just sex unless they fall in love.

When a women is attracted to a man she is thinking about being in a relationship with him. For example, on the date the man is just trying to get the woman to have sex with him, while the woman is testing the man out to see what kind of relationship they might have. They've got different motivations.

For one off sexual encounters some men and some women choose people they possibly wouldn't want to have a relationship with, for both men and women when they are attracted to someone they want a relationship with there's much more than sex in the equation. In a lot of cases sex is one of the least important things for both partners.

There are men who don't want a relationship, just to shag and men who do want a relationship before they get sexually involved. Exactly the same with women.
