I'm also amused that on like...part 16 of the EI application form it asks if I'm currently employed.

Pretty odd to ask that question so late in the process...

I think it's not so much wrestling as grappling. With a "therapist".

I wouldn't worry - there are always people who need their computers fixed. Good luck finding a new job, should it be necessary.

Sorry to hear it actually happened, Asher, but I bet you're glad it happened now rather than another week or two of not knowing... enjoy the weekend drinking

It's just an extensive C++ app with lots of Javascript as well. Can learn a lot with both still.

                        Very civilized.

I was relieved of ID, keys and system access in my boss' office prior to office hours (I was routinely at work an hour or so early), then escorted to a grief counselor ( ) who went over details of my (quite generous) severance package -- which of course required my signature on a hold-harmless agreement. Which turned out to be negotiable. They wanted that signature. Of course, I'd been there 20 years and the "reorg" given as the reason for termination (I was director level) was a total sham.

I signed a hold-harmless as well, but only after I told them to omit the part about me adhering to my non-compete agreement. I told them it was unreasonable to hold me to that if they're laying me off, they agreed and had a new copy printed.

The only way for me to get the severance package above and beyond the legal minimum was to sign it.

Why, to get another 4 months of pay and health insurance, of course.

I took my agreement to a lawyer before signing it. I knew I wasn't in a good emotional space when they pushed it under my nose.
