  • What has the Internet taught you?

In 1992 Ice-T/Body Count released a song called Cop Killer. I remember the controversy created by the song, but never listened to it.

I did not know until yesterday that Cop Killer is not a rap song and is, in fact, heavy metal.

    ACK!
Don't try to confuse the issue with half-truths and gorilla dust!

      I had to Google it.
Rule 34, as all men know, is the cosmic rule that demands that porn can be found on the Internet to fit any concept.

Porn being the primary use of the internet by so many is just sad.

It took you until the internet to figure that out?

. . . That the 48 inch pizza really does not exist.

. . . That there are rules and regulations on age limits for hickies.

. . . That Texans' egos match the physical size of their state.

. . . That commies do NOT like to be referred to as liberals.

I grew up in a very egalitarian and very very secular society, so it was very easy to believe. Sure we had dumb people and ignorant people, but it was hard to pin down a great number of people as being constitutionally irrational.

Even then episodes of irrationality could plausibly be explained by lack of reliable information. Many disagreements seemed to originate in incomplete information, not from any hard headed irrationality on the part of the disputants.

But the internet has, if anything, resulted in more irrationality even though most people have far greater access to information than they ever did before.

It was around that time I stopped believing in the Enlightenment.
