  • Thank you gents.

Now Spiffor, if you would do the honours and begin the next game: I think the Arnos Grove variation with an optional lateral switch at Bank would be appropriate.

    • Aaahhh! The noble game! And to think some people still enjoy playing chess.
      What?

      • A fine game.

          • In a nod to my parents' neighborhood, where I'm staying this week... Stonebridge Park.

              • I shall attempt the Russell Square gambit. Bold I know, but I think I can pull it off.

                • Bold indeed, but I think that the rest of us should be able to compose an equally bold response.

                  • Well everyone seems to be taking their time thinking about it.

                    • Oh, it's not my turn yet.

Hurry up all, I've got a wondrous gambit I've just learned in a local game that I'm dying to try out on you.

It's a little-known variant of the Kensington-Smythe ambition that may blow the minds of regular MC players, and certainly challenge the more experienced players.

                      • Since it's been two moves and four posts since my last move, I'm invoking the Sutton Rule and skipping Krill, Cort and anyone else yet to move in turn. Vauxhall, to take advantage of the double lateral opportunity.

                        • Very well done, and the rule is that you may take a turn after two others have.

Otherwise I'd have been at Vauxhall.

Instead, I shall move to Oval to take in Surrey's pre-season practice.

Ah, I thought we were following the Broughtonshire Protocol. Hence my desire for special dispensation. Probably a good thing we weren't or the game might bog down for a while. Oval's an interesting move, I have to say.
