All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.

            He has to rest up and get better.

                My goodness. I can't believe it took me a full five days to find out about this. From the title of the thread, I assumed it was just another birthday thread! I tend to avoid those nowadays.

                I will add all of my best wishes for your speedy recovery, SlowwHand. You do exactly as the doctors advise, do you hear? And as others have said, take it easy for as long as it takes to regain your full strength and health.

                Know that you have a lot of good friends here. Do not diappoint us in the slightest in this matter. Get well, Sloww!

                  I was pretty sure he was going to be OK when I heard he was already home. Cardiac care has improved so much since I was in training. We would routinely keep patients hospitalized for a week after their MI and still lose some at the end of the week. Being able to re-establish circulation with stents and grafts is part of the reason. The early use of statins, anti-platelet agents, beta blockers, and ACE inhibitors is another reason. Last, but not least, we stopped giving medications that were actually harmful.
