let it be known I love gay men. Leaves more women for me. The opening sentence is probably one of those things you don't want to print on the internet as it will prevent you from being president some day. And now I'm old enough to run... In either case I was joking, I don't actually get women. But I can dream about it lol.

I really can't see the problem here.
Probably not, and maybe that's because there's no need for anybody to find that stuff offensive?
To me, there has already been too much heterosexist and homophobic pressure to conform and for gay men to feel ashamed of themselves. When I hear someone identify himself as being "straight acting" I'm just reminded of all the bull**** so many gay men seem to put themselves through because of our heterosexist or homophobic society.
It's up to each individual gay man when or if they should come out but to use the words "straight acting" is just bullsh*tting yourself and other people in my opinion. You're a gay man who is in the closet; okay, so when you explain that to other gay men, say you're in the closet instead of explaining it as being "straight acting."A lot of Republicans are not racist, but a lot of racists are Republican.

Basically I interpret this as another way of saying 'I don't subscribe to any lifestyle where I let my homosexuality define all that much', which might be a fairly relevant point in something like a dating profile. I still don't get why people using that term would be in the closet somehow, since it obviously implies (to me at least) that you're not straight, merely acting like one.

One of the reaons I felt led or felt the urge of compelled to start this is because people often choose to accept ideals or lifestyles familiar and acceptable to their reasoning and experience.
Now please reread what I am meaning to communicate and convey:
I was abused terribly growing up, and to this day have nightmares. But not solely of the physical memories of pain received, no more about people adults who saw what was going on chose to view as simple childhood rites of passage. The mental torture and emotional anguish nearly drove me to suicide.
What I did gather from those horrific experiences was people try to define omething that is acceptable to the masses and not rock the boat.
If I chose that I want to be something that does not harm another person, is it illegal then why dopeople make such a fuss about it?
If two consenting adults chose something why does it become unacceptable in societies eyes?
In the neighbors eyes?
i would be willing to wager a lot goes on like spousal abuse, alcoholic affliction, emotional instability and anger uncontrolled that society views as oh thats sad but it continues but if a person chooses to want a lifestyle then they become some hideous monster in a close minded societal microscope.
I would thank those thus far that have viewed and contributed and encourage more input

This thread has been going on nicely without him.“As a lifelong member of the Columbia Business School community, I adhere to the principles of truth, integrity, and respect. I will not lie, cheat, steal, or tolerate those who do.”

I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

And I'm sure you accept other kinds of cosmetic surgery even if it's for non-medical reasons.
I agree with JM that we should draw a line with the mutilate of our bodies. On the other hand, I consider it a relatively minor sin. So many women go get boob jobs, after all.I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

You may not want to hear this, but wrt this subject it's religion and a twisted interpretation thereof that's responsible for a majority of the persecution of homosexuals. Someone awhile back decided "God hates fags" and skewed the bible to back up their hate, a lot of people decided to listen to him, and here we are.
I assure you I am not offend Theben and thanks for pointing out what is painful to see and otherwise to admit by some, not me, for I have seen fear turn into aggression which begats violent, unwarranted and unforgiveale actions
