He doesn't even have logical cuts. Why would SC and Tennessee not join the South, which they are much closer to ideologically? If the country would split, it would be pretty much on the lines of the civil war, as far as I can tell, with who knows what happening to the West, and a couple of the plains states (KS, for example) heading with the south this time around.

MOSCOW -- For a decade, Russian academic Igor Panarin has been predicting the U.S. will fall apart in 2010. For most of that time, he admits, few took his argument -- that an economic and moral collapse will trigger a civil war and the eventual breakup of the U.S. -- very seriously. Now he's found an eager audience: Russian state media.Graffiti in a public toilet

MrFun, your angling techniques are lacking finesse, especially trolling.
Well played, my friend.Today, you are the waves of the Pacific, pushing ever eastward. You are the sequoias rising from the Sierra Nevada, defiant and enduring.

Well, the article says this guy was and is being destroyed by others who have credibility as a complete joke. So... I would not be worried that Russian scientific discourse is that different. It's just one nut and his peers pretty much laugh at his general direction. We all have crazy professors. In da butt.

Prof. Panarin, 50 years old, is not a fringe figure. A former KGB analyst, he is dean of the Russian Foreign Ministry's academy for future diplomats. He is invited to Kremlin receptions, lectures students, publishes books, and appears in the media as an expert on U.S.-Russia relations.
He is welcome to come to any receptions I may hold. This guy's a hoot!

I can't believe anyone hasn't altered this map yet. I was tempted to change it to a religious one, but after Scientology for the west, Jebus for the Texan republic and Waspish Protestantism for the east, I couldn't decide what to give the others. Decided it wouldn't have been that funny, which is always a good thing to decide before you post something, but surely someone else can come up with something worthwhile.
