I suggest drinking the following:
-Shots of chilled vodka, straight up
-Dark beer - preferably Black and Tans, a 50/50 mix of Bass and Guinness
-Red wine, preferably either a CabSauv or Shiraz blend of some sort
My suggestion is to order the beers and shots together, and drink one shot for each beer. Get some food at some point, and down a bottle of red wine while you eat. Then, switch back to vodka and beer.

I use to drink vodka straight, but it was mostly just because I had it arround for mixing...
It doesn't have the great flavor that whiskey or some of the others have.
