    A couple of years ago they tried to pull out another of my teeth (under local) and broke it off below the gumline. Then they had me drive 6 miles to the oral surgeon so he could finish what they started.

          You're assuming the teeth were exposed at all.

          Mine were all well below the gums and growing out sideways and the roots were entangled with nerves. Not doing that under GA is silly, if only because for 2 ****ing hours you'd need to sit there while you jaw is held open to a painful degree.
