Tis a pity she didn't want to be McCain's VP pick. She is the 3rd most powerful republican in the Senate and is chair of the RPC (Republican Policy Committee). She is a credit to the Republican party.

I think it had something to do with:
- Different perspectives on Immigration. ...
- Old alleged corruption scandals or something of the sort around (93/94) Cleared, but could come back a la "keating five."
- Personality Clash in the Senate? ??? I don't think McCain and Hutchison were ever very close.

She'll probably be the next Gov, though Perry has proven a decent ability to survive. If Perry manages to keep the nomination, that's a Dem pickup if they run a decent candidate (a higher caliber than Chris Bell). If not, Houston Mayor Bill White has a fine shot at her Senate seat.
They're both moderates on immigration. She wasn't picked because she's nominally pro-choice (even if she doesn't vote as if she were).- Different perspectives on Immigration. ..."Beware of the man who works hard to learn something, learns it, and finds himself no wiser than before.
