        No.

        1. I've never been to a protest, nor will I, probably. I think they are a pretty archaic and ineffectual method of changing people's minds in the internet age.

        2. I don't live in California, so why should I be protesting something that doesn't affect my state one way or the other?

        3. I don't think the ban will last long, anyway. It will either be struck down or back on the ballot next election.

Can't you just answer the question? What is proposition 8?

It was a California ballot measure that requires obscure gay men to marry ugly lesbian celebrities.

MrFun's wedding to Rosie O'Donnell is scheduled this Saturday.

It was a referendum proposing mandatory deportation for homosexuals, with a provision exempting hairstylists, fashion designers, interior decorators, the entire writing staff of Desperate Housewives, and bi-leaning lesbians. The net effect is that nobody in California is eligible for the deportation, but it's still controversial in a symbolic sense.

Okay Boris, I marry Rosie and you marry Sarah Palin.

Anyway, in all seriousness - Proposition 8 passed in California by vote which now prohibits gay and lesbian couples from legally marrying in that state.

Sadly, this will invalidate the 18,000 gay and lesbians couples who had already legally married when the Supreme Court had ruled earlier to permit equal marriage rights.

Even if Palin were a lesbian, I would still be better off. I doubt you'd survive the wedding night.

This is not certain. One of the problems with the measure was its lack of guidance on those marriages. That's one of the reasons the legal challenges to Prop 8 seem to have some merit. I don't know how the California supreme court could invalidate those marriages, since at the time they were performed, they had been considered an "essential right" by that very court.

I know - I've seen this point before in news articles and here on Apolyton. I just really, really hope we prove to be right in this regard. :desire:
