Yes. I thought you were western MD, though (until you mentioned that you were in MD-01 in the election thread)

Use Poly as an educational resource. Don't be dogmatic when you argue. Just present a point of view, and allow it to be criticized. You will rapidly become better informed. You are more than smart enough to hold your own, even if somebody who is known for tearing people who argue with him limb from limb occasionally smashes you. If it happens and you learn something then it's worth it. Nobody's keeping score on you except you. When you're wrong just come out and say you're wrong. Intellectual honesty is the trait I admire the most in a person.

Just because you disagree with him doesn't mean he's intellectually dishonest, Kid.

            How's that hangover, KH?

I didn't say it did, but when did he ever admit that he was wrong to anyonw. Also, intellectual honesty? You can't seriously believe that. His strategy is to verbally abuse every single person who disagrees with him. Is that what you call intellectual honesty?

No hangover. Popped 3 advils before I sacked out, popped another 3 when I woke up. Was at work by 8:20. Definitely aware that I drank last night (head a bit fuzzy) but no pain or nausea.

Did Kid call me intellectually dishonest? I'm not surprised, because he's too stupid to understand my posts most of the time. It must be frustrating for him. I do wonder why he and BK continue to post in this thread when they know that they're on my ignore list.

Arrian: generally a very good poster. Well-informed, moderately creative thinker. Posts are usually reasonably to the point and contain sufficient new thoughts and witty comments to make them worthwhile.

You aren't smart enough to know why we still post.

Almost never. Occasionally there will be some sort of function where there's booze provided.

GePap: Horrible, horrible spelling. Posts are too long, usually rehashes of conventional thinking. Tendency to self-importance. Intelligent enough, sometimes a nugget of new information or line of reasoning. Overly dogmatic. Minimal entertainment value. Read his posts, but don't necessarily look forward to them.

                        • You're smarter than your posts make you seem, GePap. This is something you can fix. Shorter posts, don't plod through details which are self-evident. Attempt to come up with creative phrasing (getting stuck in a rut when it comes to language leads to getting stuck in a rut when it comes to thinking).

                            • I will admit that I post here more for getting riled up than in trying to make good points all the time. I tried way back in our good pre-Iraq days, but when those post went nowhere, well, I must have learned the wrong lessons.

Anyways, next time in you are in NY, maybe we can hit the Peculier Pub again.
