I hear there's a great spot by the surreptitious donkey close to highway six.

        Check this out Oerdin...

Enjoy freedom of movement and unlimited air supply while diving with The Air Line by J Sink. Our tankless hookah diving system is lightweight and easy to use.

There's a 12V system on ebay for less than $800. (search hookah dive) I'd take a pic of it but its all boxed up.

The point is, no need for a dive shop to recharge your tank. All you need is a 12 V solar charger and you can recharge off the grid if you're into such stuff. Anyway, with a small used boat you could anchor a little ways out and pluck lobster off the bottom to your hearts content.

Man, is it really that hard to catch lobsters/crabs there?

Here you just throw a crab pot of a sea wall and catch a half dozen blue crabs in an hour, you don't even need a pier.

The pier must just be fished out because no one caught anything.

I wander what was the last time anyone caught anything on that pier... but 50 people still come even at Friday midnight...

Oh god. Those fish heads I was using for bait reek. I was to lazy to take them out of my trunk last night thinking that since I'd wrapped them in plastic and then put them in a plastic bucket they'd be fine over night so I could reuse them tonight to go again. ****, my whole car smells like rotting salmon heads. :barf:

Apparently if you go out on a boat no and even at piers if you go at the beginning of the season then even the piers are crawling with lobsters and crabs but since you don't even need a license to fish off piers they quickly get over fished. I hear lobsters and crabs don't travel very far and tend to stay in the same area. 1/4 mile from the pier I see boats loading up on lobsters & crabs but it's out of my reach until I get a boat or go snorkeling.

I should have started on opening night on Sep 27th.

                  Are all California lobsters clawless?

Yes, I understand that to the north someone has released Atlantic lobsters illegally and that California, Oregon, and Washington have been trying to eradicate them as an invasive species but I doubt they will be successful. The native lobsters tend to be slightly smaller (10lbs is a big one while 15lbs is huge) and their claws are tiny compared to the lobsters found on the east coast but supposedly the meat is more tender. Also the Pacific lobsters lay more eggs so their numbers recover faster from over fishing.

Not that I would notice given my luck trying to catch the bastards.

Jesus, even you might think that wrapping them in plastic and then putting them in a plastic bucket would be good enough for a day so that you could go back out the next night.

                          Tell me about it.

50 people brave the fog and the wind and the cold to sit out on a pier at midnight each thinking they will be different, that they will be the one to catch the mother load.
