Yes, I read the article incorrectly (but I don't believe the original allegations anyway) and made too sweeping of a statement.

In another instance, Cameron wrote a story posted on the Fox News website which included fabricated quotes from Kerry; the senator purportedly called himself a "metrosexual" and Bush a "cowboy" and spoke effeminately about a manicure. Official Fox News spokesman Paul Schur later said it was intended to be an internal joke not for publication, and the network apologized for the piece, but only on its website, and only through a tag on the article in which these quotes appeared.[8]

So we have a guy who has lied about folks in the past and the MSM jumping on the leaker who doesn't seem to actually exist (and was actually a hoaxer). Are we so unsure that Cameron got his original info from the hoaxer? Seems to cast doubt about everything involved in this story.

Cameron was on the McCain campaign, and was spending his days talking to McCain aides. So yes, I find it hard to believe that he got took as easily as somebody who wasn't on the campaigns did. You might think that after some months around the McCain crew he might be a little suspicious about somebody he'd never talked to before emailing him out of nowhere and telling him this crap. And, by the way, he'd apparently been sitting on this for some weeks because the information was embargoed until after the election. Hardly the modus operandi of a hoaxer. Plus, Palin and supporters acknowledged a conversation which corroborates that the source had some knowledge of what was discussed in the debate prep. They disagree with exact wordings and the implications.

This does not prove that the story is true; it simply implies that Cameron's source was almost certainly somebody who was privy to debate prep info.

The only likely source of falseness is somebody inside the campaign who didn't like Palin and who exaggerated a true story to make it sound like Palin was a complete ****.

Maybe so, but seeing as he apparently made up comments about Kerry in 2004, I can see him jump on a "scoop". If it was obvious that Eisenstadt wasn't a campaign aide, don't you think Cameron would be one of the first to say he's never heard of this guy who is claiming to be the source?

Imran, of course it's possible he's just lying his ass off. It does not make it plausible. Plus, he gave details about debate prep which "Eisenstadt" would not have known about until after the story broke.



Give it up. There's only one really weak link in the chain: the source himself may be lying/exaggerating as part of a vendetta.
