While I believe that rules should be followed, an exception like this should be overlooked and those that are trying to make a big issue about it (not those that are just pointing it out) are heartless douce bags.
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

If it was a personal trip (and it was), it does seem to me that he has to pay for that himself. No big deal, just have him pay the campaign back.

We should also expect that McCain/Palin will be diligent in making sure none of their campaign funds were used for personal purposes either...

The timing of the suit is, of course, very bad and makes the GOP look like big meanies.

Aren't Democrats the ones crying about the rule of law?

If you're so concerned about it, how about Palin using the state of Alaska's money to ferry her kids around on personal business?

Why are you such a heartless douchebag, Boris? Seriously though, I'm not familiar with the law regarding that issue but if such actions were against the law, shame on her as well. I don't see how pointing to possible bad behavior of one person justifies bad behavior of another though Boris.

Man, you really have a cold heart and seem unreasonably inflexible with rules for extraordinary exceptions/situations.

Maybe I'm less partisan than you are. When some other Democrats were making an issue of Palin using some funds to cover costs of her children accompanying her on trips around the country, I thought it was ridiculous for Democrats to try to make this into an issue.

I believed that Palin had a legitimate reason as a mother for wanting her children to travel with her. And so now with Obama's use of funds, I extend the same principle of allowing for bending the rules in face of extraordinary circumstances.

So what was the reason for Palin also having her kid's friends accompany them, on the taxpayers' dime?

And how about Palin charging a per diem food allowance to the state for 300+ days when she was at her own home?

Her kids' friends would be unacceptable - what compelling reason would there be for Palin to finance her kids' friends to tag along?

And yes, the second thing about the food budget while at home would also be unacceptable.

Seriously, Congress should pass a law that says that everybody in America gets to take a turn punching Fred Phelps right in the ****ing neck.

And if anyone wants to pass on their turn, I got dibs.

Its really weird, too, because Phelps was a civil rights lawyer who fought for black and white equality...
