If you don't wish to participate, then you can go find somewhere else to live. I'm sure there's a country somewhere that's 100% libertarian that's thriving beautifully.
Yeah, the U.S. economy and government sure are thriving economically, LOL. What's that national debt again? How many trillions has the pentagon 'lost'? How many trillions are spent 'off the budget'?

Seriously what fantasy land are you guys living in?

You must be seeing the economic and political conditions in the Unites States lately.

Keep on paying those taxes like a loyal slave - the Feds are great accountants, and those guys in Washington really do care about you. Honest!

"Social Security is a joke. I have parents; I don't need another set of parents called the government. You know, let me take my money and invest it how I please. Social Security I've never believed in, don't like it. I hate that it's forced on me."

I'll admit I didn't bother to read most of the thread, because I didn't care to.

But someone was pointing out that you could go to a (potentially) thriving country that was 100% Libertarian, and you replied that the state of the United States is ****.

Which would lead one to conclude that the US isn't thriving.

But the US isn't 100% Libertarian, so your reply didn't make sense, given just those two things.

So which countries are currently doing better than the U.S. economically, and are any of them libertarian? Please do tell.

Krugman had a NYT editorial where he called him "Joe the unvetted plumber" .

So now libertyrants are claiming reserves are the measure of wealth and not GDP? When did that start?

Wealth is a stock variable. GDP, on the other hand, is a flow variable and therefore can't be used as a measure of national wealth.

Why ask silly questions? We both know that there are none.

My point is that if you're happy with the current state of affairs in the U.S.A., good on you. I tend to be more than a little bit skeptical of governments that grab half of my paycheck and dump it into a $50 trillion black hole of debt.

And this idea that people who aren't happy should 'go somewhere else' is a cop out. There are people who love this country and are disgusted by the government's corruption and dishonesty - and we will stay in the U.S. and do our best to make it better. Some people actually take their lives and their citizenship seriously.

What's happening in the United States right now is pretty unique with respect in world history, and it's not a joke. In fact, the joke is on us.

The United States is crumbling right in front of us, and the pathetically ignorant Americans still praise the government & the economy, the thieves & the liars....amazing.

Now please do carry on with your clever internet banter.

Doesn't that tell you something about the feasibility of a libertarian society, then?

As for the rest of your boring post... it's a whole lot of dodging the issue. How is Joe the Plumber not paying his Ohio state taxes a good thing that will help fix any of those issues?

It's called civil disobedience. The concept has quite a long and proud tradition which apparently has escaped the wisdom of contemporary "free Americans".

Corrupt and immoral governments can only function so long as their people obey them. Perhaps you're familiar with the historical lessons from Martin Luther King, Ghandi, David Thoreau, and Etienne de la Boetie? Apparently not.

Apparently you're too cowardly and snide to even comprehend or consider why someone would do something other than what they've been told by their 'leaders'.

You've been misled, my friend. So you'll live your life constantly thanking your political and economic masters for their 'generosity', and ridiculing anyone who doesn't. Your economics masters have taken your wealth, and left you and your offspring with a $50 trillion debt. You say, 'Thanks for the roads!"

The principle on which the United States was founded, LIBERTY, has been almost entirely abandoned, and fools like you don't even know it...in fact you laugh in the face of those who mention it.

I knew the U.S. would fall some day, but I didn't expect quite so pathetic a response from some of its proud and ignorant citizens.

I'm done with this sad forum. I'm sorry I ever came here.
