  • Palin does not understand the Senate

Republican Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin has been criticized for her response Monday to a question from a third grader concerning the role of the vice president.

"A vice president has a really great job because not only are they there to support the president's agenda, they're there like the team member, the teammate to the president," Palin said. “But also, they're in charge of the United States Senate, so if they want to they can really get in there with the senators and make a lot of good policy changes that will make life better for Brandon and his family and his classroom. And it's a great job and I look forward to having that job.”

Does she have any idea how our government functions?

No you stupid bimbo, you are not in charge of the United States Senate. The Senate is in charge of the Senate. You break ties when they occur.

Well that was my contribution. Discuss.

I think the chance of McCain winning just dropped from 3% to 2%. You might as well laugh.

Now to be fair this answer was to a third grader.

So someone who is what, nine years old? Well, you lied to them. That is not factually accurate. I think I could explain the job of the VP to a 9 year old.

"Everyone votes to decide who gets to make our rules, your mommy and daddy and everyone else elects the senators. The senators all get together in this nice building in washington[*show a picture of the capital in 2 hands, wait for the children to go ooooo!] and they make the rules. If they vote on new rules and there is a tie, I break the tie. I also help the president, in other small ways, by talking to people and telling them what the president thinks".(which is to say, the president deligates some of his authority and sends the VP off, but this is for a 9 year old, so that is accurate enough)

I should not be more qualified to answer any question regarding the workings of our government, than the vice president.

Hey, if the kid had pulled that stunt with Cheney he'd have just looked shifty and made a mental note to have the kid "handled." So this is a step up.

Biden would have given a factually correct answer longer than the entire allotted time for his visit.

What would you have her say? You're looking for a reason to complain. You must really be worried. Good.

You do have a point, rah. The action described in the latter part of the title doesn't usually lead to fertilization.

If there had been any even vague connection or any real fact, I might have let it stand.
