when i was a student i tended to use westlaw more often, but i found both to be useful.

      I learned on Westlaw.

After 10 years of having no research service, the court finally provided us with Lexis, but no training. Then one day, they upgraded my computer, which included changing my Lexis password, but they never told me what my new password is. The in-house person who would know, quit. I'm sure he's been replaced, but we've never been told who by.

      So, now I use books.

      (I love my job.)

In school I used both; then in the corporate world, for a while, I used Lexis. Now I have access to neither, and I'm completely okay with that.

          Westlaw!

Lexis is nice because of the shepardizing, but Westlaw just has a much easier to read layout. The research categories are also much better organized.

Lexis. I used to get it through my high school, now I get it through my dad.

                    I've always preferred Westlaw.

I had access to and used both during my undergraduate years (2000-4) -- for which half of my undergraduate degree is in Law -- but have not had access to either since. I don't recall having a preference though.

Westlaw, even though Lexisnexis has better reward points.
