  • Soros on Moyer: We need a new engine for the economy

The old engine is the US consumer. It won't work anymore. Take the old engine out. Put the new engine in. The new engine is investment in clean energy.

I don't think that's going to happen since his theory of reflexivity seems to make more sense now.

The solution is less service sector, more real sector.

we just need to make sure that the enslaved banker population does not raise to more than 80% of the total as than they will be hard to control

              true I suppose.
Modern man calls walking more quickly in the same direction down the same road “change.”
The world, in the last three hundred years, has not changed except in that sense.

Bankers are too lazy. They can't work for **** even when getting whipped. They just freeze and curl up in the fetal position.

How do you just make that happen? The dominance of the service sector was driven by demand, so how do you suddenly increase demand for heavy manufacturing? A colossal alternative energy "program" might create that demand, but only at taxpayer expense...
                    Unbelievable!

It has worked for other countries. Germany invested heavily in rail and now they're the world's biggest maker of rail engines and cars. Denmark has invested heavily in wind power and now they export lots of wind turbines.

Well of course it will cost, but so does credit.

As an added bonus anything which off sets oil imports has to be good for the economy. Yes, let's drill where we can but we only have 3% of the world's oil yet consume 25% of the world's supply. Bio-engineered algae look like the most promising future bio fuel on a cost output basis plus building new wind turbines and high speed rail networks will really help power the economy providing good paying jobs.

Plus the companies which design those trains and turbine can later build the designs for export.

I guess you mean more export of real stuff by that?
That works for one country to correct a trade deficit, but not for the entire world.

Yes, perhaps we need to shut down the airline industry, internet providers and plumbing in order to fix the global economy.
