I'm a little confused as to why people are fleeing TO the dollar. Given the state of the American economy and political situation...

Lets invest in north korean currency. The cycles of coniucture and deconiucture do not affect communism.

Contradiction. Communist countries don't use money.

The Yen seems to be the bigger bet, according to the exchange rate movements in the last week.

All I would say is I'd expect the US to back it's debts, moreso than just about anyone else. (The rest of the world better hope it does, cause everyone is screwed if not.) That will probably change someday soon, but not yet.

Deep memories, from a lot of years ago:
                        "Never forget,gentlemen,they have the weapons".
From the speech of the President of...(leading financial group) in a
                        meeting in Switzerland.
Not to much time was needed to roll to show he was right.
                        Best regards,

Well I guess this goes to prove that all European problems are US imports.
Modern man calls walking more quickly in the same direction down the same road “change.”
The world, in the last three hundred years, has not changed except in that sense.

But seriously I don't think this is the demise of the EU, it may actually make it stronger in the medium run (5+ years).

But if the EU ever fails, Europe will be a very unpleasant place to live, another war in Europe would drive us to third world status and would mostly result in the use of nuclear weapons by at least one of the three European nuclear powers.
