I'd agree, though I think towards the end it looked like Obama was getting the better of the CNN graph, so the polls may show him as a (slight) winner.

It was interesting how McCain copy-cat the same answer Obama gave for the final question about what you don't know and how you will learn it.

I don't think that graph is worth anything. It will spike up to any pandering, and dip to any negativity or cheesy cliches.

If anything, I'd say McCain came off as crankier than I would like, but not enough to matter.

Fox is saying the mortgage bailout plan that McCain dropped in the debate will cost $300bn.

Looks like the media and the focus groups are seizing on the "that one" comment. Could be unfortunate for McCain.

Fox News is accusing the questions of being biased because they did not ask about same sex marriage or abortion....

Turning to Fox News is good for a laugh after the debates end.

Noted "Obamacan" and The Atlantic columnist Andrew Sullivan called it thusly:

10.33 pm. This was, I think, a mauling: a devastating and possibly electorally fatal debate for McCain. Even on Russia, he sounded a little out of it. I've watched a lot of debates and participated in many. I love debate and was trained as a boy in the British system to be a debater. I debated dozens of times at Oxofrd. All I can say is that, simply on terms of substance, clarity, empathy, style and authority, this has not just been an Obama victory. It has been a wipe-out.It has been about as big a wipe-out as I can remember in a presidential debate. It reminds me of the 1992 Clinton-Perot-Bush debate. I don't really see how the McCain campaign survives this.

I'm sure what he saw, to be honest. He is a smart guy. But regardless, McCain needed a big win tonight, and I certainly don't think he got it.

                      • Anything but a big win for John McCain is a loss for him given the current race.

                        • McCain did pretty much own the first question of the night with the mortgage bailout proposal. Obama shouldn't let him own that idea.
