  • I agree with GePap. Obama's relationship with Ayers is no big deal. Obama should just come clean on the whole matter as soon as possible.

    • Yeah, and you should stop the mail fraud (Hey, dumb-ass allegations are fun! Even more fun is claiming someone did something "wrong" and demanding that they account for themselves...)

Obama has discussed this numerous times.

Only Sarah Palin has said "he's hiding something".

        • I work with a redneck sometimes, and we were talking about a person's name. It was an Armenian name. He said he hated those f'ing ragheads or something like that. I said the name was Armenian, and he just looked at me and shook his head, as to say, "I don't give a ****."

Later I thought I was stupid for even saying anything.

Anyway, my point is these people aren't going to listen to any reason. They see the man's name, and he has different beliefs than they do. This is just how they are.

He's never come clean as to the true extent of his involvement with Ayers. He's been claiming than Ayers was "just a guy in his neighborhood", which is preposterous. Ayers was one of his earliest and most important political patrons.

                • They need to fill 24 hours a day with something. One would think Obama's relationship with an unrepentant terrorist would be considered more interesting and important than McCain's relationship with some stupid audience members at a townhall meeting, but apparently CNN feels differently.

                  • Except it is a tenuous seven degrees of Keven Bacon sort of argument which got played out nine months ago during the primaries. Sorry Drake but this dog won't hunt so just accept it.

                    • There's nothing tenuous about the Obama/Ayers relationship. You're just ignorant, as usual.

                        Because Obama is a terrorist?

No, because Obama had no qualms about cozying up to a terrorist to get ahead in politics. Obama also had no qualms about cozying up to Wright, Rezko and (worst of all) Daley to get ahead. Face it, you're about to elect a corrupt Chicago machine politician as President of the United States.

That might be acceptable if he were super-experienced and qualified to lead America in a time of crisis, but he's the least experienced presidential nominee since William Jennings Bryan. Is it any wonder your country is in the ****ter when you insist on electing unqualified *******s like Bush and Obama?

                          • Wait a second...let me make sure I understand the chain of logic here:

Obama cozied up to someone (who was a member of a subversive group back when Obama was 8), IN ORDER to get ahead in politics?

This is the main point you are arguing? (because obviously, given the social climate in the USA, if you want to get ahead in politics, befriending terrorists is obviously THE fast track!)

That line of reasoning makes ALMOST as much sense as the one that says the Queen of England is a six hundred year old reptillian alien! I doff my hat to you for coming so close to that pillar of excellence, sir!

Seriously though, that's the crux of the argument, right? That in order to get ahead and get his start in politics, because he knew that it would come out later, he cozied up to a "domestic terrorist"

                            Uh huh.

Further, the argument would hold some water if they went out and did some bombing together or something, but you see, he (Ayers) was a radical when Obama was eight years old, and the centerpiece of what they did together was the Peace School (which I have heard right wingers refer to as "that commie school" so perhaps you want to change your argument to "he's a closet commie?" - at least that would make more logical sense.

Anyway, maybe I'm just thick, but I'm not sure I get it, and it seems to me that Keating of much greater substance, but I'm sure you have no interest in that discussion.

                            Not that I blame you.

                              1) Why does Obama associate with such radical people as it is quite clear that the relationship with Ayers at least wasn't a tenuous one as some people here would like to suggest?

                              2) What influence have Ayers and the other radical people he associates with had on him?

                              3) What do these relationships tell us about his judgement and the type of people with whom he would entrust with executive powers if he wins election?

Exactly. Ayers was quite plugged in with the Chicago political scene. I know you don't know anything about this issue, but it's true.
