  • Katie Couric, cutthroat journalist

I'm sure there's already a thread about this, but it's late and I can't sleep...

I watched the opening sketch from last nights SNL on the NBC website. A bunch of the comments noted that the sketch didn't really deviate much from reality. Finding this hard to believe I started watching the actual Palin interview with Couric on the CBS website. I could only get through about 3 minutes before I had to quit watching. You see, I can't watch people embarrass themselves like that -- too painful. Honestly, the SNL sketch probably presents a more favorable image of Palin than the actual interview. Anybody care to defend Palin's performance?

You know... if they made a game show called: "Who wants to be Vice President?" or some sort of reality show, I'm sure at least one of the contestants chosen would be better than Palin .

Obama wouldn't be. That's right. He's running for prez. I keep forgetting, since democrats compare him to Palin.

Sloww, you just can not be serious about that. You may think that McCain would be better than Obama, that's a reasonable position. But after listening to this woman flounder and babble and spout inanity after inanity, you can not honestly think she'd be a better President than Obama.

              I didn't say that, eyes. I SAID, Obama wouldn't be a better VP. It's a fore-gone conclusion he wouldn't be a better president.

Obama would be a terrible VP. He'd talk way too much and get his President into trouble.

Sloww, the topic is Palin. Like most Republicans, you react to any perceived criticism by trying to shift the conversation, rather than addressing the actual question at hand.

Fact is, if any Democrat ran for either POTUS or VP with Palin's lack of credentials, the GOP would mock and attack that person incessantly.

Which is exactly why Obama gets mocked incessantly.

And exactly why Palin deserves the same.

Palin's fundamental problem in that interview was that she was unable to bring together all of the canned talking points to form a relevant or even coherent message. The problem with this isthat it clearly indicates that she hasn't given these issues a lot of thought. That is why comparisons between Obama and Palin don't hold water.
