Dam I miss my kids when they were that small, your daughter is just adorable!

    The partial hairdo is OK.

Little Red Riding Hood should be good, make sure to save a picture of that outfit

Yeah, she went and got some "expert" to tell her that doing the babies hair up in the full beehive would have been "bad" for the hair.

"Pfft, then we just cut it off after, it'll grow back" was not an acceptable response when dealing with the daughter, apparantly...

Some of my family originates from Denmark. 5+ generations since, hit the cat out of the barrel has morphed into a Halloween tradition at family parties. It's only natural I had to seek the origin of such an odd practice.

It's really too bad they don't make em small enough, she'ld probably actually wear one if it would stay up...Maybe I don't have to worry about having to make fairy princess costumes after all.

My understanding is that Halloween in Japan is very much for all ages, as it has become more and more so in the U.S. and elsewhere where it was traditionally for the youths.

A mock-up of the school project is up in the back yard. Waiting for some glue to dry for the REAL framework, so substitute lighting and wiring is in use. Trying to get a video of the basic idea tonight...

I have to say, though, for throwing this together in under 4 hours worth of work with crap I have on hand, it's pretty decent.

Folks who are fans of more traditional Halloween stuffs (and by traditional, I mean 60's&70's) are going to like it more than most of my other things.

I gotta find a sound effect to flip on when that switch is flipped.

Wonder if they have any controllers that work with Ipods yet...or do I gotta hide my laptop somewhere...

Edit: That didn't take long...here's the sound effect that needs to go on when the switch is flipped: http://davesworld56.250free.com/lab.wav

Can you hook an ipod up to computer speakers? I SHOULD be able to just rig it so the speakers only turn on when that switch is flipped and have that on loop on an ipod....

Apparantly some nosey ninnies are all flustered over Fred.

                            From Halloween buildup '08

Put out on Sept 8th for 2 days while I messed around with lighting and made sure all the poles were going to hold everything fine, then taken down.

Well, it got the neighbor's panties in a twist, apparantly. Saturday, my mom was at a friend's funeral.

One of my neighbors approached her

"You need to have a talk with your SON."

                            "which one?"

"He's got the whole neighborhood scared. He has a human body he's hiding somewhere, we saw it!"

"...You mean Fred? Oh, we've had him out to our house."

At which point the ninny got even MORE worried an buzzed off. Nice of my mom not to squash any rumors. Does have me curious just WHAT all these busy bodies are saying, though. Any bets on whether or not I get the cops called out. AGAIN...

I hope they do call out the cops. That would be hilarious

It would mark the third year in a row.

                                The cops responses:

                                1st year:

"this is SOOO COOL, I'm calling it in, the other's got to see this."

this made a parade of cop cars out front and a TV news crew picking it up on a scanner and coming to film kids for the 9PM news.

2nd year, cops called in September:

"Oh, it's you. Can't wait to see the final product!"

I'm half wondering if they didn't already call and get told to bugger off. I now have a PRETTY good idea who has been doing the calling though.....and pranks are a Halloween tradition...
