    Real life proves otherwise.

Except Europe, and to a lesser degree NA, religion does not virtually disappear in higher educated areas of society. Religion experiences a revival all over the world, except in Europe.

Only about 1 in 5 people attend church every Sunday in the US and many of them are older. I wouldn't get to excited about this so called revival.

I am quite religious and I never go to church on Sunday.

I think that I end up going to church once a month or so. I would like to increase that.

I very seldom go to church on sundays. I have a rich religious life nevertheless.

You're part of a religion but you don't meet with the other members regularly? I would say you aren't that religious then. Is religion just believing in God? I don't think so. A religion is an organization.

When people stop going to church the religion gets weaker and fades away.

Just because I don't go to church every week doesn't mean I don't go occasionally. I even was actively involved in church activities and going 1 out of every 2 weeks last year.

I agree I am not as active now, but I still meet with other members regularly (at least once a month).

Sure, Bible study or whatever should count, because you get together with other members and discuss issues or whatever, but even though a majority of USians claim to be religious, most of them don't practice at all. It just means that they were raised as christians and they believe in God. That's my point. I think maybe 50% of USians are organized religiously, and that's a lot less than it used to be.

Depends on what part of the country you are in. The Northwest and Northeast have a lot less religious involvement than the south.

In the south, churches are everywhere. If you go to coffee shops/etc, you will see people having Bible studies together. I could go on.

Yea, in Oklahoma there are still a lot of church members. I can't really say if religious organization is declining there. Even in California there are places like Orange County that have a lot of religious organization.

I said I didn't go to church on sundays. I'm involved in several religious activities, at least one organized per week. When I am with friends, we often pray or just talk religion. My belief is an important part of my life.

In Slovenia there is an interesting phenomena of people not believing in God but still describing themselves as Catholic and going to mass every Sunday.

Are these people religious by Kid's definition?
Modern man calls walking more quickly in the same direction down the same road “change.”
The world, in the last three hundred years, has not changed except in that sense.
The simple suggestion of a true change scandalizes and terrifies modern man. -Nicolás Gómez Dávila

Also I think looking at the world today we can now safely assume that the lower the % of people participating in organized religion the saner the society.

                              Example:

Europe - has a few patches of intellectual integrity and sanity

                              Japan - weird

                              USA - no comment

                              Israel - no comment

                              Iran - insane

                              Saudi Arabia - batsh1t insane
