Fundies may be crazy, but that doesn't necessarily make them stupid - some of them have figured out how to play the game, and play it well.

Whatever. I'm not voting for McCain either way.

Isn't all this energy used to attack Palin kind of stupid and playing into McCain's hands?

What I find interesting is the GOP's attempt to simultaneously portray Palin as this tough executive/hockey mom/leader while howling to the heavens at any perceived criticism, however slight. Even legitimate inquiries into her political history are denounced.

If I was in Palin's shoes, I would be extremely offended -- by the paternal, patronizing protectionism of her GOPs sponsors. That's what so cynical and insulting, both personally and to women in general.

But I guess she's willing to put up with it in exchange for a shot at VP. Opportunism and ambition at its finest.

Yeah, but politicians are willing to accept that kind of thing if it achieves there ends. It would take a pretty principled politician to say "Hey, we're not going to play that game". So, basically, when hell freezes over...

If Starbucks sold poly posts this would be a VENTE PIECE OF ****. You can be tough and denounce BS accusations. And Palin never has she been a whiney, OH POOR ME person about it.

You can find RNC and DNC operatives lying and whining all the time. It's easy. Distinguish them from the candidates and you'll find how silly you look. Like a naked man with no pants on in the subway.

Wiggy, I'm just talking about the have-it-both-ways balancing act the party is attempting. Try to pay attention.

You're exactly the kind of reactionary kneejerk the GOP counts on. Don't forget to vote November 5th.

I think the attacks are counter-productive because they distract from more substantial attacks that could be launched at McCain himself.

                                Apparently, she's quite the feminist:

Eight years ago, complaints about charging rape victims for medical exams in Wasilla prompted the Alaska Legislature to pass a bill -- signed into law by Knowles -- that banned the practice statewide.

"There was one town in Alaska that was charging victims for this, and that was Wasilla," Knowles said

A May 23, 2000, article in Wasilla's newspaper, The Frontiersman, noted that Alaska State Troopers and most municipal police agencies regularly pay for such exams, which cost between $300 and $1,200 apiece.

"(But) the Wasilla police department does charge the victims of sexual assault for the tests," the newspaper reported.

It also quoted Wasilla Police Chief Charlie Fannon objecting to the law. Fannon was appointed to his position by Palin after her dismissal of the previous police chief. He said it would cost Wasilla $5,000 to $14,000 a year if the city had to foot the bill for rape exams.

These stories are just endless. I don't know see how the Palin bubble can't pop.
