                They are sending their ship away from the action. It can be dealt with if need be, np. Meanwhile what little navy they have at the scene of their invasion is not reinforced.

                  You can't just sink these boats - there are hundreds of men on board each. Yeah, granted, 90% of them are there to constantly bail out water...but they are there!
