He doesn't appear in public very often so it's difficult to verify but there are allegations today that North Korea's leader Kim Jong-Il has in fact been ...

North Korean leader Kim collapsed last month: report
1 hour ago
SEOUL (AFP) — North Korean leader Kim Jong-Il collapsed last month, a news report said Tuesday, as foreign observers waited to see whether the reclusive leader would appear at an anniversary parade later in the day.
Kim, 66, is known to suffer from diabetes and heart problems but his health is a closely guarded secret in the hardline communist state.
Although, is an impersonator dying?
At the weekend, newspaper reports suggested the health of the 'Dear Leader' may be deteriorating.
Kim, who has chronic heart disease and diabetes, has not been seen in public since August 14, when he inspected a military unit.
Reports added that foreign doctors had been in the communist country for more than a week.
But a spokesman for South Korea's National Intelligence Service told the AFP news agency it had no information to indicate Kim's health had declined.
"There is no confirmed fact in the report," the spokesman said.
The speculation comes amid claims that Kim was already dead - and stand-ins have been used since 2003.
Japanese Professor Toshimitsu Shigemura, an expert on North Korea, alleges in his book, The True Character Of Kim Jong Il, that the 66-year-old succumbed to diabetes five years ago.

North Korea's Leader May Be
Seriously Ill, U.S. Officials Say

North Korean dictator Kim Jong Il has suffered serious health problems and is believed to have had a stroke within the past month, according to U.S. officials.
Mr. Kim didn't attend the country's 60th anniversary celebration Tuesday, according to news agencies with offices in Pyongyang, reinforcing speculation that he's in poor health after reports that he collapsed last month and has been visited by doctors from China.
A U.S. official said the dictator's current state of health isn't known.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt.
