k my brother got this for xmas. ripped the songs to my hard drive.

so far, not so good. I'm listening to suicide and redemption which is supposed to be a good song. It sounds so tired. Kind of like they phoned this album in. I can accept no melody, but then you better have some catchy riffs if you have no melody. argh. So far it seems like an instrumental. It certainly is no Orion, or To live is to die.

k it's picking up a little at 5:43. a little bit of melody.

I hate to say this about my used to be favourite band of all time. But they just don't have it anymore.

let's face it. The 80's was the premier decade for metal. It's had it's hey day, and it's over now.

Slayer is still around. They are alright. Jihad is a decent song. But still can't compare to classic slayer.

Name me a better song than Angel of Death. I dare you.

Look, I was born in 1985. The only reason Metallica is my favorite band is because it's imprinted into the makeup of my brain. Lately I've been listening to girly music.

Any opinions of the video for "The Day That Never Comes"?
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

I'll listen to that next. I'm starting to warm up to the day that never comes. But the first part still sucks. Hetfield's lyrics are just getting weaker and weaker. They just don't seem like the old days. But the music during the lyrics is kinda tame too.

The song finishes real strong though. Nice solos (oh how I miss those), fast beat. They still don't sound heavy like they used to, but still kinda cool.

but I still say they might be too old to be rocking out like that.

edit: all nightmare is right after the day that never comes. sweet.

You need to give up on your expectation of the old Metallica. They are gone, never to return. On the bright side, some of the DM stuff harks back to those days.

I would've loved to see them on that tour they did with Down...mostly so I could see Down again.

system of a down? I'd love to see them (though their old stuff is better too).

anyone know their schedule? They coming to Vegas?

No, not System of a Down, DOWN. Phil Anselmo from Pantera is in it. Their 1st and 3rd albums are must-listens.
