Yup that would be it. It is like a custard or close to flan pie. You let it cook long enough to were it sets and becomes firm while letting the top brown and get a little cripsy along the lines of a creme brulee.

Yup while there are two schools of thought on how it should be eaten there are also two schools of thought on what it should be called here in the South it's either Buttermilk or Missississppi Chess Pie. Yup if you've had Chess pie then you've tasted this one.
