Wow, you type with a Texas accent too?

    ACK!

No point in trying to do a canadian accent, as no one cares whether it's correct or not
Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind- bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts to space.

Modern man calls walking more quickly in the same direction down the same road “change.”
The world, in the last three hundred years, has not changed except in that sense.

I think this thread would be better if the "accent" were left off.

Accents are an interesting thing. In the 1930's through the 1950's you had the Hollywood Effect where Californian English became the standard American English simply because people all went to watch movies and media (remember there was no TV and people watch 15 minute news reels before each movie) and all those media people were from LA/Hollywood so people picked up that accent. That's why today people say most Californians don't have an accent when in fact we do; it's just our accent has become the standard accent of the media.

My maternal grand parents were from Illinois, Chicago in fact, and for their entire lives they added an "R" sound to words where there was no "R". For example "wash" became "warsh". I never understood it because, of course, I grew up in California and was used to Californian English but to them it was very natural. I won't even bother with my father & his family from Scotland as obviously the Scots have their own accent issues.

My grandparents (and most people from their region and generation(southwest Ohio)) do this. God, it sounds ignorant. Sometimes I lament the the dulling effect that national media has had on regional accents/dialects, but this is one that I'm glad is dieing out.

I honestly will never understand why my Scottish grandparents insisted on giving my sister and I wool sweaters every Christmas. I live, and lived, in Southern California for god's sake! We have as much use for wool sweaters as as Amazons do.

Texans do not have a Mexican accent. What have y'all been watching?

There is no correct Canadian accent. I've found the east coast of Canada and rural Saskatchewan/Manitoba have what is the stereotypical Canadian accent.

The rest of Canada sounds extremely similar to your typical American accent (mid-west maybe?). We sound like most people on American TV except for some words (eg, foul is two syllables, *****es!).

Oh come on, can't you at least have a bit of a go for my quite intentional slur on your national identity

That was an attempted slur? Oi.

I don't find Canadian accents offensive. I do find the British accents more offensive. And the slang, christ...

The beauty for actors perfecting a Texan accent is that they are equally qualified to play a Texan or someone who's just mentally retarded and not a Texan.
